At Monokian Dentistry, we are dedicated to helping our patients feel comfortable when they visit our offices. We understand that previous negative experiences at the dentist or a fear of pain or loud noises during care can make the dentist intimidating. Our team wants to change patients’ perceptions of dental care. Customized, friendly treatment and personable care can make visiting the dentist more enjoyable. We also use dental sedation to ensure patient comfort. Dental sedation is a general dental treatment that helps patients get the care they need.
Who Benefits from Dental Sedation?
Patients with dental anxiety, a fear of dental tools or loud noises, or lengthy treatments benefit from sedation dentistry. With sedation dentistry, patients who otherwise avoid the dentist can receive the comfortable care they need. Our dental office is a friendly, judgment-free space where we welcome patients to receive care, even if it has been years since their last dental visit. We are concerned with helping you improve your overall and oral health. Dental sedation ensures that patients do not feel pain during their care and also allows our team to provide efficient treatment.
Oral Conscious Sedation
We provide this type of sedation for patients prior to their treatment. Patients take oral conscious sedation as a pill about an hour before their procedure. Under oral conscious sedation, patients may remain conscious, although they will not feel any pain or discomfort during treatment. Patients may also feel drowsy but relaxed. In some cases, patients may even fall asleep but can be awakened easily. We recommend that patients who undergo oral conscious sedation get a ride to and from their appointment. It takes time for the medication to take effect and wear off. Sedation can last from 2 to 8 hours, so we want patients to stay safe as they recover from treatment.
